Day Two

Carmanah Valley Rain Forest

Arrival Day
Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6 Day 7 Day 8

After a good night sleep and breakfast we board our Safari plane again at the Inner Harbour. Our flight takes us along the magnificent West Coast of Vancouver Island passing over one of the most rugged and unique coast lines known to man. We fly over Port Refrew, the beginning of the famous West Coast Trail. We will land at famous Nitinat Lake from where we are driven to the Carmanah Valley, the island's most majestic Rain Forest with Canada's tallest trees, awaiting to share with you its ancient ecological secrets.

Carmanah Valley has become known internationally as one of the most spectacular ecosystems on earth. A naturalist will help you experience the beauty and complexity of the valley's unparalleled old growth rain forest. Sense the awesome power of Canada's largest Sitka Spruce trees and marvel at the intricacies of mother nature's delicate touch. Savour the lushness of the valley and thousand year old cedars.

Picture the gourmet lunch served next to Carmanah Creek and our dinner later that evening, a traditional salmon barbecue, cooked over an open fire by our First Nations cook on the picturesque shores of Nitinat Lake.

After this experience we will bring you back to civilization. From one extreme to the other, you are driven to the most beautiful resort, The Aerie, called " The Castle in the Mountains" where we spend the night. This resort, perched high above the Malahat, gives you a breathtaking view of the Gulf Islands and the Olympic Mountain Range normally enjoyed by eagles. This is where old world elegance meets the nature of the West Coast. After this long, wonderful day you can enjoy the indoor or outdoor hot tub, or swimming pool or simply enjoy the dramatic sunset, with blazing pink and gold lights dancing across the dark waters of Georgia Strait.
