Itinerary:
Day Five
Knight Inlet - Wildlife Sanctuary
After breakfast we will leave Vancouver Island and make our way across the mountainous B.C. Coast with its many Fjords to Knight Inlet, a deep 160 km. Fjord which is famous for its wildlife and fishing resorts. As a matter of fact, Knight Inlet has recently been proclaimed a bear reserve which makes the area a safe haven not only for Grizzlies, but also black and brown bear species.
Upon arrival at about 11 am, we will trade our wings for boats and will be whisked away on a two and a half hour cruise deep up the Inlet to Cascade Falls and Glacier Bay. The 17 to 22 ft boats are all equipped with safety gear, radio's and fish finders. Two fisherman per boat are always accompanied by experienced guides.
Along the way we hope to see bear feeding on salmon along the shore, as well as mountain goats, otters, seals an eagles. In 1995, bear were seen as early as April, however the best season to see Grizzly is during September when the magnificent animals come down to feed on the salmon returning to their spawning grounds.
Lunch is a crab feast with complimentary wine. Dinner is Table d'Hyote again served with wine.
We overnight at Knight Inlet Resort, a private paradise, located on a protected bay and surrounded by snow capped peaks and fabulous scenery. Enjoy a real west coast dinner, prepared by Master Chef Hamid on the historic camp stove.
